Oscar’s Hangout, Mordialloc

Oscar’s Hangout is located in Epsom Estate, the old Epsom racecourse in Mordialloc.

The building that Oscar’s is located in was the old TAB betting building and you are still able to see the old remanence of the betting windows in the walls. The streets in Epsom Estate are all named after famous race horses, Oscar’s being located on Hallmark Road.

Oscar’s Hangout has been proudly here for 11 years, operating as a café and function space. It’s flexibility, licencing and open outdoor area allows the space to cater to all the needs of our customers.

We pride ourselves on our ability to cater to all dietary requirements, ensuring all our customers needs are met.

The owners, Brad and Carly of Oscar’s Hangout grew up locally and they strive to show their community spirit through Oscar’s Hangout.

Majority of the staff are hired locally and Brad works with a lot of the local schools and sports clubs to train up students to have the ability to work within hospitality.

He also works with local sporting clubs helping out in their kiosks and with sporting vouchers throughout the season.

Brad has worked with Parkdale Secondary for many years with a program called STEPS. This is a 4 week intensive elective where the students complete training in kitchen and front of house service. The last week ends with the students running a fine dining inspired 5 course dinner for their parents and teachers.

If you come down to Oscar’s Hangout it is likely you will see a familiar face and with time all of our regular customers become like family.

Oscar’s Hangout is also an environmentally friendly café. Majority of our packaging is through the ‘I Am Not Paper’ company who repurpose plant pulp into coffee cups, straws and packaging, all of those products are compostable as well! All of our food scraps also go to compost bins and our old coffee grinds are picked up by local customers to be repurposed in their gardens.

The owners and employees at Oscar’s Hangout endeavour to provide our customers a welcoming space where they will feel like they’re at home.
